DiscoveryCellar door words that work on a smelling strip
At the cellar door we say blackcurrant leaf for some reds. Smelled blackcurrant bud on a strip at a workshop and it's the same thing, only louder.

Half the words folk who come in use for whisky would work on a strip. Peat, wet rope, toffee. They loose the thread when the glass is empty, mind.

The blackcurrant bud page calls it green and slightly bitter, which is exactly your leaf.

I'd love a list of wine words that cross over.

Grass, gooseberry, wet stone, pencil shavings. That's the start of one.
