For the museum, its own history page says it was inaugurated in 1989 and presents itself as the first public collection in the world devoted to the perfume industry. The club's Class on Grasse as a perfume capital is good reading for the plane.

Fun fact: the Pays de Grasse tourist office page lists the museum's gardens at Mouans-Sartoux and flower-field visits you can book. Spring and gardens, definitely my vote [jealous from Chicago]. Footnotes welcome.

Here's a thing. We went to Grasse one wet April and the old town smelled of rain and stone and somebody's orange tree over a wall and I'd go back tomorrow for that alone, so I would. The Osmothèque can wait for a winter tune.

Gardens it is. Versailles for a winter trip, then.
