Scent diaryA vetiver strip pinned by the wheel
Studio notes: I pinned a vetiver strip to the shelf by the wheel and smelled it every morning before opening the clay. The first day it was raw and rooty, like a carrot pulled with the dirt still on. By the weekend it had dried to something smoky and almost sweet, closer to a bisque firing then to soil. The clay smell never covered it. Anyone else?

Its the carrot for me too. Pulled one in the garden this arvo and thought of vetiver straight away.

The vetiver page says the oil is distilled from the roots of a grass from India, so the dirt's in the name, more or less. Haitian is meant to read more floral and Java smokier.

Then mine might be Java, the vial only has a V on it.

Dirt on a carrot at the start and smoke and sugar by the weekend, and all of it from one strip.
