ChallengeBack from a weekend away? Smell your own hallway
A weekend challenge for anyone travelling: when you get back, stop in your own hallway before you put the kettle on, and write down what your home smells like.
Your nose files the smells you live with under background, so the moment you walk back in is the clearest you'll get them. I tried it after two nights at my sister's in Cardiff: wet wellies, compost from work, toast, and the lavender bags in the airing cupboard. The same thing happens on skin, which the Class on why you stop smelling your own perfume explains.
Shout if you get stuck.

Back from my mom's: coffee, radiator dust and the cat. I had no idea about the radiator.

Dust, records, a little linseed oil from the floor. I live here since six years and never noticed. /Ingrid

Very likely, Dex. Hang it by the door this week and try again.

Wet dog and woodsmoke. Exactly what I'd want, honestly.
