In Brazil we have many kinds of tangerina. For me the smell changes more with how ripe it is than with the name.

Thiago is actually onto something. The club's mandarin page, on how ripeness changes the oil, says green, part-ripe yellow and fully ripe red fruit each give a different oil. Our mandarins are finishing here as spring kicks in, so I'm smelling the last red ones.

I'd loose that bet every time.

Tried a greenish one and a soft one at break time. Totally different. Ripeness wins.
