QuestionWhat makes a smell read as clean?
When I say something smells clean, what am I smelling? Is it the musk or the citrus?

Usually the musk, I think. Clean musk is quiet and close, like a room with good acoustics. I wear it since ten years.

Often musk, and lab-made. The Wikipedia article on musk says nearly all perfumery musk today is synthetic. Basically the clean laundry smell owes almost nothing to deer.

Clean laundry is my whole personality. Is some of it aldehydes too? The aldehydes page made me want to smell one on a strip.

The Wikipedia article on aldehydes actually says fresh, green and citrusy notes in perfume are often down to aldehydes, so Orla's lemon might still be in on it.

So clean is mostly musk, with aldehydes helping. I'll stop blaming the lemon, mostly.
