QuestionCologne, aftershave or eau de toilette?
The wife signed me up, so here's my first daft question. I've called every bottle I own 'cologne' since the shipyard days. Is cologne a strength, a men's thing, or just a word?

Fun fact: Wikipedia's article on eau de Cologne and where the name comes from says Giovanni Maria Farina created it in Cologne in 1709, a light citrus scent at a typical 2 to 5% concentration. [And in American English 'cologne' mostly just means a men's fragrance, whatever the strength.] So it's definately all three. Footnotes welcome.

All three. That'll do me.

At the factory the lads called anything in a bottle aftershave, and none of us would of known an eau de toilette if it bit us.

My husband said 'aftershave' or 'cologne' depending on the day. Same bottle.

The club has a Class that sets the strengths side by side, from extrait down to cologne, and that's the one I'd read first, so it is.
