ExerciseThread of the week: one scent, three places
Thread of the week: where does your fragrance last longest? Take one scent you know well and try this tomorrow.
1) One spray on your inner wrist.
2) One spray on a scarf or a sleeve.
3) One spray on a strip of paper (a coffee filter cut into strips works) left on your desk.
Smell all three at lunch and again in the evening, then tell us which one is still talking. The Class on training your nose with blotters and kitchen smells has more ideas if you get hooked.
Over to you.

Scarf wins by a mile.
- wrist: yuzu gone by lunch
- strip: faint, basically just the woody base by evening
- scarf: still there at bedtime

Strip is the cleanest signal, wrist the warmest, scarf the loudest. I keep my orris on wool since years.
big_dan_vetiver
Vetiver on a fleece cuff. Still smelled it at clocking off, which never happens on my wrist.

The strip won for me. Left it on the bench and it smelled of vetiver over the engine oil all afternoon.

Now that's a field test. Did your wrist keep up at all? Over to you.

Wrist was gone by tea break. Strip and sleeve both made it home.

Neroli went the other way: brightest on skin for the first hour, then the strip outlasted it. The scarf mostly smelled of my shampoo.

Musk on a cardigan sleeve: I can still smell it when I fold my arms, three days on. Wrist, nothing after lunch, but my coworker said she could.
hamish_heather
The paper won here. Sat by the till all day and still smelled of heather and smoke at closing, wee thing that it is.

pepper scent on a strip by the pass, still louder than my wrist at dinner service, your gonna laugh but i kept sniffing it between tickets

Coat collar, as you'd expect from me. The wrist was a write-off by teatime, I would have bet money on it.

Did it with my rose and powder one, love. Scarf first, then the paper, then the wrist, same as everyone.

What a round-up. Fabric and paper win almost everywhere, the wrist loses for nearly all of you, and jess's coworker could smell what jess couldn't. Try the same scent with one spray less and tell us how it goes.
