Wearing Fragrance

Where, when and how to wear your perfume: trail, lasting power, skin and clothes.

The Wearing Fragrance circle is about gestures: where to spray, how often, on skin, hair or a scarf, and why you end up no longer smelling your own perfume. Members compare their habits, ask about lasting power and trail, and share what they notice over the course of a day. The Classes on how to wear fragrance and fragrance concentrations give the explanations. A skin reaction is a question for a doctor or a pharmacist.

Decanting fragrance for a flight: what works

TL;DR: small refillable atomizer, in a zip bag, in the carry-on. Flying to my sister's for the holidays, so the packing list has started early. What I've tested so far: - full bottle in checked luggage: wrapped in a sock, survived, but I worried the whole…

Lemon Neroli

priya.cardamom Moved this over from Learning to Smell, it fits better here. My three rules: 1) decant only what you'll wear 2) don't fill it to the brim 3) keep it…

Tobacco on my coat collar, still there Friday

Right then. The wool overcoat came out of the wardrobe at the weekend, first properly cold morning. On Monday I put one spray of my tobacco scent on the underside of the collar, and nothing since. It's Friday and the collar still smells of it, warm, a bit…

Tobacco

callum.peat Same with my scarf. Birch on wool lasts days, on me it's gone by the end of a shift.

The wearing Class: which habit did you drop?

Read the club's Class on how to wear fragrance, from where to spray to why you stop smelling it with a cup of tea at the garden centre, between the pumpkins and the bulb displays. The bit that caught me was topping up: I'd been adding a spray of lavender at…

Lavender

ambrose_leather Right then. Dropped: the second spray on the cuffs. Keeping: the collar, whatever anyone says. I should have read it sooner. Cheers, Ambrose

Why my yuzu leaves and the musk stays

TL;DR: it's the molecules, not my skin. Read Wikipedia's page on top, middle and base notes last night. It ranks materials on an evaporation scale: 1 to 14 for top notes such as citrus and ginger, 61 to 100 for base notes. Base notes are usually noticed about…

Yuzu Musk

jess.in.philly This is my clean-laundry musk exactly. I thought I was imagining it on my scarf the next day.
