Question

Smoky scent behind the bar, rude or fine?

Shiny black birch tar spread on a wooden board lying in the snow

I wear a birch tar and leather scent behind the bar most nights. A regular who loves his whiskey says it gets in the way when he's nosing a glass. Fair point, or is he being precious?

Fair point. In the shop we wear nothing at all, folk come in to nose and a wee bit of birch on the staff would muddle every dram.

Smoke on smoke. He's not wrong, sorry.

Fair enough, so nothing on the hands, then.

Back of the neck only. The hands are the microphone, keep them clean.

chef 86'd my cologne on day one, said you're not cooking if you can't smell the food

Moved it to the collar of my coat for the walk home. The whiskey man is happy.
