Sweet to sharp: rank your fruit bowl citrus

Thread of the week: rank the citrus in your fruit bowl from sweetest to sharpest, by nose only.

1) Take two or three citrus, whatever you have in.
2) Scratch each peel with a fingernail and smell it, no tasting.
3) Post your order with one word of your own for each, or a colour if that's how your nose works.

A satsuma, a lemon and a lime is plenty. Over to you.

ok so: orange (candy), lemon (dish soap, sorry), lime (green flame on the burner). your welcome

mags.lavender

Mine: satsuma (Christmas stocking), lemon (lovely clean washing), grapefruit (alot of bitter).

It's spring here so I've only got lemons and a last mandarin. Mandarin (honey), lemon (tin roof after rain), and a lime from next door that's sharper than both.

Aye, a wee clementine (marmalade) and a lemon (furniture polish). That's my bowl.

kemi.cocoa

Orange (my mum's kitchen at Christmas), lemon (the school cleaning cupboard), grapefruit (Monday morning).

One orange, one lemon. Orange: the inside of a new glove. Lemon: saddle soap, near enough. I would have done a third but the grandkids ate it.

That is exactly the kind of word I was hoping for.

Orange, then lemon, then a lime from the shop. The lime smells like my aunt's pickle.

Only had a lemon. Sharp. Does that count?

It does. Next time smell it beside a teabag or a banana and see whether the lemon changes.

Spring in Brisbane, so: orange (marmalade on toast), lemon (iced lemon tea), lime (the beer garden down the road).
