QuestionWhat does benzoin actually smell like?
Kia ora, benzoin keeps popping up in the amber threads and I've got no idea what its like. Sweet? Smoky? Piney? Nothing like it in the bush round here as far as I know.

Warm vanilla with a bit of dust, to me. Like the paste pot in the bindery on a cold morning.

Vanilla-ish resin. The club's page on benzoin, the sweet resin in amber accords says it's usually part of the amber recipe, and it gets burned as incense too.

Studio notes: softer then frankincense, no pine at all, more like caramel left warm on the stove. Anyone else?

Kia ora, sweet as. Caramel and paste pots, sounds like it's the gentle one of the resins.
