Three kitchen florals, eyes closed, shuffled by someone else

Something for a wet weekend indoors. Find three florals in the kitchen cupboard: rose water, orange flower water (the baking sort) and a jasmine tea bag.

Put a drop of each water on a strip of kitchen roll, open the tea bag onto a saucer, and ask someone to shuffle them while you close your eyes. Name each one, then say which feels warmest.

If you're wondering why the baking water smells softer than a perfume note, the orange blossom page explains that it's a by-product of distilling the blossoms. Shout if you get stuck.

Rose Orange blossom Jasmine

Two out of three. I swapped the last two:
- rose water: easy, jammy
- orange flower water: I said jasmine, soap and honey
- jasmine tea: I said orange blossom, green and fruity

I got all three, but I cheat: the orange flower water was in every cake of my childhood. For me the orange blossom is the honey and the jasmine is the fruit.

Did it at dusk on the porch and the honeysuckle on the fence crashed the test. Four florals instead of three.

Night jasmine outside my window, so I skipped the tea bag.

Otis, check the label on yours. We sell three plants called jasmine at the garden centre and only one of them is a Jasminum, and the jasmine page says perfumery jasmine is Jasminum grandiflorum, from the olive family.

Well, now I'm out in the yard reading a plant tag with my phone light.

I did it with my flatmate. She said the orange flower water smells like a wedding cake and the jasmine like a hotel lobby. I think she is right.
