ReadingWhere citrus sits: French families versus the wheel
TL;DR: citrus is a family of its own in the French classification but only a subfamily on the Fragrance Wheel.
- the club's Class on the seven fragrance families follows the French perfumers' seven, citrus first
- Wikipedia's article on the Fragrance Wheel says Michael Edwards' 2010 wheel has four families, with Citrus under Fresh
The same fruit filed in two cabinets. The citrus family page lists what the club puts in it. That's my two cents.

Fun fact: the wheel had ancestors. The same Fragrance Wheel article mentions Jellinek's Odor Effects Diagram, from 1949, among the earlier schemes [I want that diagram on a tea towel]. People have definately been sorting smells into boxes for a long while. Footnotes welcome.

Mademoiselle Bulle's scent guide has a fresh family too, but keeps seven families, fruity included.

So where does tea go?

The club files it with the fresh notes of the citrus family, and the page on tea and its oldest pairings basically explains why: Earl Grey, jasmine tea, lemon at the table. That's my two cents.

At the factory we graded hides into bins and every foreman would of drawn the lines a bit different. Same game.

Saving the citrus family page for the bus home.
